Green Key

Bella Center – The Green Key certified conference center

Bella Center is the frame facility for COP15 in Copenhagen from 7-18th December and has been certified with the Green Key eco-label in October 2009. Their environmental friendly process began in 2007 with an investment of 20 million DKK, expectedly reducing their CO2 emissions by 20 % before the expiration of this year and another 25 % reduction by 2015. This investment entails a performance reduction of app. 2 million DKK pr. year.

As a condition for obtaining Green Key, BC must change 7900 m2 windows to energy windows within 6 years, and thereby save more than $ 300.000 a year on heating and about 500 tons CO2.

Six energy reduction initiatives:

  • Controlling system for the energy and changing 140 pumps (461 tons CO2)
  • Solar film on windows (211 tons CO2)
  • Energy-saving light and sensors (209 tons CO2)
  • A windmill on the ground (990 tons CO2)
  • New motors and fans in A/C and ventilation system (226 tons CO2)
  • Skip 69 electrical radiators (132 tons CO2)
