Area

The Herning area is quite special

The Herning area is often characterized as something very special. Once the textile industry was the big engine, then fairs and congresses were added, and in recent times large events and a varied cultural and leisure life have set the agenda.

The area around Herning-Ikast is voted time and time again as one of the most business-friendly in Denmark and is characterized by many initiatives and a great drive to work. It leaves its mark on a city where you are not afraid to tread new roads.

With MCH as a focal point, around a million people are attracted annually not only to fairs, congresses, national meetings, professional events etc., but also to concerts, shows, opera, ballet, theatre, entertainment etc. The Jyske Bank Box was the first multi-arena in Denmark.

In the museum area, Herning offers two internationally recognized art museums, Heart/Herning Art Museum and Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum, as well as the Textile Museum, Herningsholm Museum with a unique Blichersamling, and just south of the city you can experience the lignite adventure at Søby Brunkulmuseum.

The cultural area also offers the regional theater Team Teatret, the regional venue Fermaten, the classical orchestra Ensemble MidtVest, Bio City, small galleries, cafes with live music. Also visit the library, one of the most innovative in the country. If you are into sports, there are matches in football, ice hockey, women's handball and men's handball all year round - all in the best league.

If the time is right, Herning has both a swimming pool, Fitness World, a golf course and a varied range of outdoor options.

Herning is extremely suitable as a starting point for hiking, cycling holidays, canoeing holidays, fishing at Karup Å, Skjern Å and Storåen.

Not far from the center are the family attraction Baboon City, the animal parks Jyllands Park Zoo and Løvbakke Dyrehave and Denmark's oldest village church in Gjellerup. In the district of Birk, in addition to the art museums Heart and Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum, there is also the giant sculpture Elia, the Sculpture Park and the Geometric Gardens.
